Shieldaig Collection.
A true reflection of Scotland.

Shieldaig, a picturesque coastal Western Highland Village surrounded by sea and mountains, is believed to have been established over 200 years ago by King George III as an outpost to train crofters to be sailers in the event of a french invasion from Napoleon's fleet in the Minch.

Shieldaig derives from the norse, "Silk-vik", meaning Herring Bay. Bronze age burial mounds found in the village suggest that a long tradition of farming and fishing has been established in the area for centuries.
From the shore, looking across the loch, lies SHIELDAIG ISLAND, a bird sanctuary, home to a large heronry and other rare bird species nesting in the shelter of Scots pine trees.
